The Stratford District Council is the leading the way for district councils in Taranaki, with their Long Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP) already adopted.

At the Council meeting last night, Stratford’s LTCCP was formally adopted, having been audited first in January/February, then available for public consultation during March and April, and awarded an unqualified audit opinion in early June.

Chief Executive Officer Michael Freeman said “the LTCCP has been a year long project across the whole organisation, but proper project management principles and resourcing of the project from the top-down has seen Stratford one of the leaders in terms of meeting the legislative timeframes.”

“Improved audit processes and industry guidance have both helped make the LTCCP preparation easier than in the past,” Mr Freeman said. “However, Council continues to wonder whether the audit requirements add much value in comparison to the level of fees paid, and hopes that Minister Hide will revisit this as part of his work programme with the Local Government Act.”
