Snow closes Rimutaka Hill Road

Rimutaka Hill Road, State Highway 2 is closed to all traffic, both North and South bound. This is due to snow.
Currently the roading contractor is working in the area monitoring the situation and will advise when the road is safe to be opened again.
There is no time set on this closure, as it is weather dependant.
So motorists wishing to travel this route need to start planning how they can get to their destination via another route.
Police would like to remind all motorists that they need to adapt their driving manner and style to the weather and road conditions prevailing at the time.
