fatal motor vehicle accident in Waikato District, 10:00pm

At about 6p.m this evening Police attended a fatal motor vehicle accident in Morrinsville.

A Toyota Hi Lux vehicle had been travelling along Hutchinson Rd before the driver lost control negotiating a bend.

The vehicle has then smashed through a bridge before travelling over the bank and dropping some ten metres into the Piako River.

Emergency services managed to remove the almost submerged vehicle from the river.

The sole occupant, a 51 year old male died at the scene.
