Charlesworth in three international finals

AUCKLAND

Waitakere 17-year-old Luke Charlesworth is on target for three titles at the NZ Junior Badminton International in Auckland.

Charlesworth beat Canterbury’s Asher Richardson 22-20 in the third game of their semifinal and will now meet Counties Praveen Tayalan in the men’s singles final.

In the men’s doubles Charlesworth teamed up with Brock Matheson to set up a clash with Josh curry and Dhanny Oud for the title. To cap off a good day of results Charlesworth and Mary O’Connor had a straight game semifinal win and will play Matheson and Waikato’s Amanda Brown in the mixed final.

The women’s singles has Australian Victoria Na against Auckland’s Victoria Cheng.

The NZ Junior International finals are from 11am Saturday with the US$5,000 Auckland International semifinals from 4pm the same day, also at Gillies Ave.
