Evidence recovered following shooting

Police investigating a shooting incident in Dannevirke on Thursday night (18 June) have executed a number of warrants at addresses in the town this morning.

The shooting occurred around 6.30pm on Thursday when it is believed someone discharged a shotgun through the window of a residential address.

There were two adult men, four adult women and a child inside the house at the time and one woman received minor injuries.

This morning's warrants were all carried out with the assistance of the Armed Offenders Squad. At one address evidence believed to be linked to Thursday night's shooting was recovered. No arrests have been made at this stage.

The exact number of warrants, the locations and the nature of the evidence recovered are not being disclosed at this stage in order to prevent the ongoing inquiry being jeopardised.
