New supervisor for Turangi pool

The Genesis Energy Turangi Aquatic Centre has a new pool supervisor.

Local Turangi man Dave Greensmith has been appointed as the new pool supervisor of the popular community facility. Mr Greensmith is already well known in the Turangi community as a member of the Turangi Volunteer Fire Brigade, Turangi Wanderers Soccer Club and as breakfast host DJ ‘Davie G’ at Tuwharetoa Triple T FM.

Dave brings an infectious enthusiasm and is looking forward to the challenge of leading the team of lifeguards, building the profile of the aquatic centre and increasing pool-user numbers.

The centre is experiencing a slightly quieter period as the winter sets in but this has not deterred the steady use of the facility for fitness and aquatic-exercise activities with two providers offering programmes in this field.

Mr Greensmith replaces previous pool supervisor Tina McFarlane, who recently saw the centre up and running. Tina has taken up a role managing pools in her home area of Lower Hutt.
