Black ice on SHW29 and SHW36
Western Bay of Plenty Police are again urging all motorists using State Highway 29 over the Kaimai's and State Highway 36 to Rotorua to reduce their speed and drive with extreme care as the cold frosty conditions continue.
Sergeant Mark Holmes from the Western Bay Road Policing Unit said that both Highways are open but extreme care is required and he urges all drivers to reduce their speed and drive to the conditions.
Black Ice has once again formed on sections of State Highway 29 between Ngamuwahine Road and the Kaimai Summit.
Police Highway Patrols are monitoring the road conditions and Roading Contractors are spreading grit but extreme caution is required.
State Highway 36 from Tauranga to Rotorua is also once again affected by ice. Grit has been applied to the road but Police urge all motorists to drive with extreme care and reduce their speed.
