Fatal Crash in Tasman District, 10:55am

Police are attending a fatal crash on SH 6 at Wakefield.

Two cars have collided and as a result of the collision one person has died.

Three other persons are injured.  Emergency Services, including a helicopter, are at the scene.

SH 6 has been closed and a detour put in place via Eighty Eight Valley Road and Quail Valley Road.  

The detour will add considerable time to a journey and motorists are asked to be patient.  

The State Highway will be closed for some time.
