Firearms incident in Canterbury District, 9:00pm

Police are currently dealing with a firearms incident at Wadhurst place in Burnside Christchurch.

It has been repoorted that several shots from a shotgun have been fired down the street. the shots have not been directed at any persons, but a number of house windows have been smashed as a resultr of the shots.

Police have cordoned off the area and are currently evacuating residents from around the address where the shots are originating from..

Police request the public to stay away from the Greers Rd, Guildford St areas.

Police armed offender squad is currently enroute to the scene and will take over command and control.
