Alert: road closure in Central District, 4:00am

The Parapara Road (State Highway 4) has been closed between Raetihi and Wanganui until further notice due to a number of blockages caused by the extreme weather conditions currently being experienced.

A large number of slips and fallen tress has made the road impassable in several locations and the decision has been taken to close it to all traffic until the most dangerous of these can be cleared.
