Fatal crash in Eastern District, 4:00am

Police and the serious crash team are currently at the scene of a fatal vehicle crash in the Hawke's Bay.

At approximately 3.40am this morning, a passing motorist alerted Police to a crashed vehicle at the intersection of Farndon and Pakowhai Roads near Hastings.

Police attended and found the vehicle's only occupant - a male - was deceased.

It appears the vehicle has left the road and struck a power pole, no other vehicles are believed to be involved.

Details of the man killed will be released once his next of kin have been advised.
