WELLINGTON

Police are appealing for witnesses and any information concerning an Aggravated Robbery that occurred at the BP Service Station, Otawa Road, Ngaio.

Two male offenders entered the BP Service station as the cashier was cashing up and closing for the night

One offender pointed a small black handgun at the female cashier and demanded money from the till

The offender threatened to shoot the female cashier, before stealing a quantity of cash and cigarettes.

The offenders are described as male and dressed in black clothing. They were seen placing the stolen items in a silver car before driving off South in Ottowa Road.

Detective Sergeant Damian MURPHY of Wellington police said "It is not known at this stage whether or not the firearm is genuine however it must be assumed that the firearm is genuine, until it has been established that it is not".

Detective Sergeant Damian MURPHY of Wellington police said "The female cashier was unhurt but extremely shaken by this brutal crime. Offences of this type are particularly traumatic for the victims and support services have been arranged to help her deal with this incident".

There were other people around in the area at the time and people may remember seeing the silver car or the two men who were dressed all in black, loitering in the area before the robbery.
