Fatal crash claims 84 year-old

At about 1705 hours on the 8th of July 2009 Police attended a fatal vehicle collision on State Highway One Bankside.
A southbound car has collided with a northbound truck and trailer unit.
As a result of the collision George Barclay AITKIN an 84 year old Ashburton resident died at the scene.
A Police investigation into the fatal collision is underway. Any witnesses to the collision who have not previously spoken to the Police are requested to contact Constable Christopher MacPHERSON of the Leeston Police.
