Fatal fire - Avalon St

Detective Senior Sergeant David HARVEY states that the identification of the mother and daughter who died in the fire at the address has been finalised. Their names can now be released after the post-mortem today. They are:

- 38 year old Angela Ellan DAIN
- Her six year old daughter, Baelee Maree DAIN

Detective Senior Sergeant HARVEY states that area enquiries are continuing. The scene examination has been completed and the cause of the fire has not been determined at this stage.

Detective Senior Sergeant HARVEY says that enquiries are continuing to reinterview a young male Maori who was seen in the vicinity of the address. He is considered a witness.
