Police concerned for injured male in Christchurch

Detective Senior Sergeant David HARVEY is concerned as to the condition of an 18 year old man who was located at approximately 7.00 am today in Gloucester Street, Christchurch, near the Chancery Arcade.

The male has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Christchurch Hospital and his condition has been described as critical.

Detective Senior Sergeant HARVEY says it is unknown how this male has received the injuries which have caused his admission.

He says that the movements of this male prior to him being located by a caretaker are an important part of the investigation. Police are in the process of locating his friends and flatmates in an attempt to identify his movements.

He asks that if anyone has witnessed an altercation or similar in the vicinity of Chancery Arcade/Gloucester Street in the early hours of Friday 10 July 2009 could they contact the Christchurch Central CIB and speak to Detective Sergeant Leairne DOW.
