Falling tree kills girl near Whangarei

Shortly before 1.00am this morning, a 15 year old girl died at Whakapara, near Whangarei, when a tree fell onto the caravan that she was sleeping in.

She was the only occupant of the caravan at the time that it was struck by the tree. Family of the girl were inside their house at the time and were not physically harmed by the falling tree.

Police and Fire attended.
