House fire in Hokitika

 At about 2.45 am on Tuesday 22nd July Hokitika Police and Hokitika Fire Brigade were called to a house fire on Hampden Street, Hokitika.

The house was well alight when Emergency Services arrived and Hokitika Fire Brigade fought for a couple of hours to extinguish the fire.

Greymouth CIB and Fire Investigators are still at the scene and enquiries are continuing in relation to the cause of the fire.

An initial scene investigation has been carried out and at this stage Police are happy that there are no persons still inside the burnt out house, the occupant of the address has been located alive.
