Cyclist's name released

Police have released the name of the cyclist killed in a collision with a Motor vehicle, at the intersection of Awatea Road & Carrs Road at 7.15am on Thursday 23 July 2009.

He was: Matthew James RHIND, aged 19 years, of a Christchurch address.

A Police investigation, incorporating the Serious Crash Unit, is underway and the full circumstances of the incident are yet to be determined. Initial reports indicate Mr RHIND, who was cycling west on Awatea Road, crossed the centre-line where he was struck by a light van travelling east.
