Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident in Whangarei

At 3.41am on Sunday the 26th day of July 2009 emergency services attended a motor vehicle accident on Western Hills Drive, Whangarei near the Manse Street intersection.

The vehicle has lost control and left the road. The vehicle has become airborne crossing a stream and embedded itself in the opposite bank.

The driver of the vehicle has suffered fatal injuries dieing at the scene. Three other males who were passengers in the vehicle have been taken to Whangarei Hospital with moderate injuries.

Police are yet to contact next of kin and until this is done won't be releasing the name of the deceased.

There are currently two investigations commenced into this accident, a coronial inquiry and a Police inquiry.
