Police investigating suspicious parcel in Petone, Wellington

Lower Hutt Police were alerted to a suspicious parcel making ticking noises in Petone this morning.

Police and NZ Defence Force Bomb Squad personnel are currently working at the scene.

Police cordons are in place at the western end of Jackson Street, Gear Street and Te Puni Street for at least the next hour.

Police are asking the public to avoid these areas if possible. Ends
