Man arrested after threatening to kill

On Friday 31st July, at a Westport premises, a person made threats to kill a female, and indicated to another male that he was in a position to harm him too if the male went to his property.

The matter was reported to Police and due to the seriousness of the threat, and the potential of the threats being carried out, the West Coast Armed Offenders Squad was called to Westport.

They were supported by Squad members from Nelson and Blenheim.

The incident came to a close at 3.00 pm when the alleged offender was arrested at his rural property.

A 37 year old male was taken into custody and will appear in the Greymouth District Court on Saturday 1st August charged with 'Threatening to Kill'.
