Aggravated robbery in Aro Valley

Police are appealing for witnesses and any information concerning an Aggravated Robbery that occurred at Aro Park, between Palmer Street and Aro Street, Wellington.

Date: Sunday 2nd August 2009
Time: 04:30 hrs
Venue: Aro Park, Palmer Street/Aro Street, Te Aro, Wellington

The 15 year old female victim was walking north through Aro Park towards the CBD.

Two female offenders have approached the victim and demanded that she hand over her hand-bag.

When the victim refused one of the offenders has punched her in the face and stole the hand-bag.

The offenders are described as female Maoris 17-18 years of age, one of a stocky build and one with a small build. Both offenders were wearing light coloured hooded sweatshirts.

Immediately prior to the assault, the victim spoke with a male who may have witnessed the incident.

This male is described as Caucasian, about 21 years of age and 6 feet tall with spiky hair, wearing a dark dress-coat.

Police are appealing for this witness to come forward as well as anyone else who may have information that could assist the inquiry.
