Police are appealing for witnesses and any information concerning an Aggravated Robbery that occurred between 4:30am and 5:00am on Saturday 1st July 2009 in Cuba Mall, near Ghuznee Street, in Wellington.

Two European men were walking through Cuba Mall, when they were confronted by two other men, and had property stolen.

Detective Sergeant MURPHY said 'There were other people around in the area at the time of the robbery. In particular we would like to hear from two groups of females who were walking down Cuba Street at the time. One group was approached and spoken to by one of the offenders, who is described as a male Maori or Polynesian, dressed in black. The other group was approached by one of the victim's, a male European wearing a navy trench coat, who asked them to call Police.'

'We would also like to hear from the male who was in the Terrace bar on Dixon Street, earlier in the night and saw somebody pick up the victims cell phone off a table. That person spoke to the victim after the cell phone was taken.'

Police appeal to these witnesses, or anyone who saw anything suspicious in Cuba Mall near Ghuznee Street on Saturday morning, to contact police on 0800TIPOFF (0800847633) or 04 496 3531.
