Yesturday (Saturday) at about 2pm Police recovered a body from cliffs close to 'windy rock' lookout above Cashin Quay, Lyttelton. The body is believed to be that of missing person Andrew Manson.

Mr Manson disappeared after drinking at a local bar in the early hours of Sunday the 26th July. Sergeant Newton of the Lyttelton Police said that members of the Search and Rescue Squad located him at about 11am and due to his position had to be recovered by the Westpac Rescue helicopter.

There appears to be no suspicious circumstances at this stage, however the matter has been past on to the Coroner to determine the cause of death. A formal identification has yet to be completed

Police and the family of Mr Manson would like to thank the local Lyttelton residents and members of the search and rescue squad for their assistance in the search
