Cyclist dies after hit by car

On Thursday 6th August 2009 at approximately 1930hrs on the Leeston Road a fatal crash occurred involving a car and a cyclist. The car failed to stop. The cyclist has died as a result of injuries received by the hit and run collision.

There is a current detour in place on the Leeston/Springfield Road between Bethels Road and Gould's Road. This Detour will be in place from tonight until Friday afternoon.

At this stage Police do not know the identity of the driver who hit the cyclist.
