Police Investigating Newtown Death

Wellington Police are investigating the death of a 37 year old man in Newtown this morning.

The incident occurred at a residential facility for mentally ill people in Mansfield Street. CIB staff are currently speaking with witnesses from the address.

A man is under arrest for assault and is assisting Police with their inquiries.

Further details of the deceased will not be released until next of kin are notified.
