Police Investigating Newtown Death update

Wellington Police are making arrangements for a male to appear at Wellington District Court today following the death of a man in Newtown.

Police are opposing bail and additional charges may be laid at a later hearing.

The deceased man's family will attend a karakia this afternoon at the Newtown address.

His details will not be released until Police have located all next of kin.

A post-mortem examination is likely to be held tomorrow with results in the following days.
