Police Confirm Post Mortem Results from Newtown Death

Police investigating the death of a man in Newtown on 11 August say post mortem results show he died as a result of multiple stab wounds.
Kelly Whakaneho Noema, a 37 year old Wellington man, died following an incident at a facility for mentally ill people in Mansfield Street in the early hours of 11 August 2009.
A 43 year old Wellington man reappeared in the Wellington District Court this morning charged with Mr Noema's murder. The previous charge of assault was withdrawn.
Name suppression continues for the accused.
Detective Inspector Paul Basham says progress in the investigation is going well. A detailed scene examination is complete and investigators had located and spoken with several people who are possible witnesses to the incident.
