Pedestrian hit and injured after police attempt to stop stolen Subaru
At approximately 1.10am a police patrol has attempted to stop a Subaru motor vehicle in central Christchurch.
The driver of the Subaru immediately accelerated away at high speed.
In their attempts to evade Police, the driver has lost control of the Subaru and struck a pedestrian crossing Cashel Street. The Subaru has then struck four parked cars before coming to a stop.
The two occupants of the Subaru have both decamped from the scene.
A 23 year old male was located a short distance away. He will appear in the Christchurch District Court on Monday 17 August 2009. The other occupant is still outstanding.
Enquiries have established the Subaru was stolen.
The pedestrian struck by the stolen Subaru is a 28 year old female. She has suffered fractures and lacerations and is in a stable condition in hospital.
