AOS called out, after reports of shots

At 0950hrs Saturday the 22 August 2009 the Police were informed that 3 to 4 shots had been fired in the Highsted/Styx Mill Road area of Redwood, Christchurch.

A male person was seen moving about a property with a firearm.

Police cordoned the area and the Armed Offenders Squad was called.

Prior to the Armed Offenders Squad being deployed the male left the property in a car. Armed Police units stopped the car. The male was compliant.

No shots were fired by Police and no one was injured. The firearm is yet to be located.

The male is now helping Police with enquires. No decision has been made as to weather charges will be laid.
