Post mortem on baby's body

A post mortem examination is being carried out on the body of a baby found at an address in the West Auckland suburb of Greens Bay yesterday.

Police and an ambulance went to the Barron Drive address at about 4.45pm on Monday 24 August 2009 where they discovered the deceased body of a 30 week old baby. The gender of the baby is not yet determined.

Detective Sergeant Sean Hyland-Mills of the Waitakere CIB says the post mortem will hopefully give police an informative, detailed commentary of how the baby has died.

“Medical professionals and relatives are being spoken to and a scene examination is in progress. The address remains in police control while our investigations continue.”

“We are getting the full support of all persons involved,” Detective Sergeant Hyland-Mills said.
