Police, like all other Government agencies, are required to ensure they provide the best value for the investment of tax payer's money says Police General Manager Finance Bruce Simpson.

"Throughout this exercise Police remain focused on ensuring the highest standards of public safety.

"We went into the current financial year facing difficult financial times and considered a range of options to improve efficiency and manage costs.  Included amongst the options is a review of our property portfolio," Mr Simpson says.

"We have more than 600 buildings including storage facilities and houses through to our 380 Police Stations.

"We are looking at our property portfolio to ensure we are making the best use of our investment in them.  There may be change in our use of buildings as a result.  However there is no list of police stations, or other property scheduled for closure.

"We are committed to providing an effective and accessible service to the public and any change will be based on ensuring we are able to continue to do so," says Mr Simpson.
