Horowhenua workplaces; it’s time to get active! Sport Horowhenua is now recruiting teams for the BNZ Workplace Challenge, beginning September 28. Participants will record their levels of physical activity for the month with the aim of taking out the most active workplace award. Business teams can sign up for free via the website .

Jo Bliss from MidCentral District Health Board was involved in the Workplace Challenge in 2008. She says, “The work place challenge kept me and my colleagues motivated to get out and about together and encouraged us to walk or bike to work more often. Lunch breaks were also taken up with running up and down seven flights of stairs.”

Getting your workplace active has many benefits says event organiser, Moana Jarden-Osborne from Sport Horowhenua. “Having an active workplace can help to reduce stress and sickness, and encourage a positive atmosphere. Taking part in the activities offered is also a great way to have a bit of fun with your workmates!”

“Like Jo’s team you can do the activity as a team, or individually; after hours, in weekends, on the way to work... you can choose when to get active, so it fits with your lifestyle,” says Miss Jarden-Osborne.
The Challenge will run from September 28 to October 30. Workplaces will be provided with a pack full of information on ways to get active, a list of the activities being offered and encouragement throughout the month to keep teams motivated, as well as the chance to win lots of great prizes, including goodies from Flybuys, MiNDFOOD Magazine and many more.
