Man dead after fight

At 00.45 this morning, Monday 7th September 2009, Police were called to a residence in Kumara, Westland District, where a fight had occurred.   Police and ambulance staff responded but upon arrival established that a man had died as a result of injuries received in this fight.

A homicide investigation has been commenced and Police are speaking with the occupants of the address.  'Victim Support' is assisting police witnesses.

The crime scene has been secured for the night.
