Police manage costs to ensure value for money
The Police today clarified steps taken to manage costs and ensure Police provide value for money. "There is no Government savings target of $20m. Police have identified savings of $5.5m on an ongoing basis and one off savings of $8.7m in 2009/2010" said the Police General Manager: Finance and Planning, Bruce Simpson. "Any other savings being considered by Police are internal measures to ensure Police stay within the overall baseline and are a part of Police's overall financial management requirements. "Police have focused on savings efforts into areas that have least impact on front line services, ensuring high visibility policing is maintained and a focus on the rights of victims.
"All savings measures have been considered by the entire Police Executive, including District Commanders, to ensure service impacts are minimised and public safety is maintained.
