AOS called out after man shoots arrow at officer

At about 1130 this morning police received a call about a male who was seen walking up and down harker street in christchurch with a bow and arrow .

when police attended the address the male fired an arrow at the officer who then retreated from the area of fire.

aos were contacted as a precaution and went to the scene. as police were unable to make contact with the male aos were left with no alternative but to use gas cannisters to extract him from the house.

the man was arrested and is now in custody and enquiries are continuing at the scene.

there will not be any further comments in this matter today.
