Serious crash near Timaru

TIMARU

At approximately 1715 hrs this evening there was a serious crash just south of Timaru which involved two vehicles which had a head on crash just north of Talbolts Road, Normanby.

The driver of a Nissan Bluebird heading south crossed the centre line into the path of a Toyota Hilux 4WD travelling north.

The driver of the offending vehicle which crossed the centre line is in a critical condition and is currently in a coma.

Her passengers (x2) suffered minor to moderate injuries.

One of the passengers in the Toyota was elderly and had to be extracted from the Toyota by the Fire Service but she is in a stable condition. The driver of the Toyota Hilux also received minor injuries.

The road was closed for a period of time to extract the occupant of the Toyota Hilux and remove the vehicles.
