70-year-old woman blows 716 after killing cyclist

About 4.48pm on Friday the 18th of September 2009 a Cyclist travelling North on State Highway One into Te Horo (in the cycle lane) was hit from behind by Mazda station wagon travelling in the same direction.

The Cyclist, a 46 year old Otaki man, Frank VAN KAMPEN, is deceased.

The 70 year old female driver of station wagon failed a breath test (blew 716).
Her licence has been suspended and she will face Charges in Court when the Serious crash investigation is complete.
