90-year-old accousted in Countdown carpark

At approximately 12.50pm on Friday 18 Sept 2009, a 90 year old lady was accosted as she was putting her groceries into her car while in the car park of Countdown Supermarket, Colombo street, Beckenham.

The male offender who was riding a bike attempted to trick the lady while he was removing her purse from an outside pocket of a jacket she was wearing

The elderly lady in her attempts to stop this theft, grabbed the offender but has fallen to the ground as he rode off.

The victim was shaken but fortunately sustained no significant injuries.

The offender is described as a male caucasian man aged approximately 30-40 years wearing a dark coloured jacket, possibly green and a hat which had a small brim on it. He also had stubble on his face and smelt of alcohol.

He was about 5.10' and of slim to medium build.

Police are seeking any information from anyone who may have witnessed this incident, can assist in the direction this man left on his bike or may know the identify of this offender.
