GREYMOUTH

Police have today have suspended the search for Mr LORIMER after efforts by the National Dive Squad yesterday failed to locate anything of interest.

Mr LORIMER was last seen wearing blue denim jeans and a light blue hooded sweatshirt. It is now believed he failed to make it safely out of the Grey River after an accident in Taylorville in the early hours of last Sunday morning.

Police have adopted a continuous limited search pattern which involves checking various locations over the next few days.

Andrew David LORIMER, 21 of Taylorville, was last seen heading on foot towards the Grey River and shortly afterwards contacted his girlfriend by cellular phone stating he was actually in the river. No further contact has been made by LORIMER and fears are growing for his safety as time goes on.

An extensive search involving local Land SAR teams, four SAR Dog Handlers, two inflatable Surf Rescue Boats, a kayak team, Coast Guard personnel, the Solid Energy Rescue helicopter and Police, has failed to locate any sign of the missing man.

Police have not discounted the possibility that LORIMER has made it out of the river and is actively avoiding police. If anyone has any information regarding LORIMER they are encouraged to contact their local Police Station.
