Police searching for escaped prisoner

At about 3:00am a prisoner escaped from Waikeria Prison.

The prisoner is described as a male maori aged 43years.

He has copper coloured wavy hair and is of solid build.

He has a tatoo of an eagle on his neck and a tatoo of a glove on his forearm.

Possible destinations for him maybe Putaruru or Pukekohe.

Members of the public are advised not to approach him but to report any sightings to police.
