Police emergency in southern Hawkes Bay (update)

Federated Farmers understands that Police are now allowing farmers trapped outside the cordon back onto their properties on a case by-case basis. The Federation understands that farmers inside the cordon, subject to Police approval, have been able to undertake basic farm functions such as feeding stock and in the case of dairy farms, milking. The Federation appreciates the earlier support of media in leaving phone lines available.
