Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a bank robbery in Wellington today.

The incident occurred at BNZ on Bay Road, Kilbirnie at around 12pm and Police believe it is linked to a previous bank robbery days earlier.

Wellington acting Detective Sergeant Blair Macdonald said he believed the suspect for the robbery is linked to a previous bank robbery on Monday 5 October 2009 at Westpac Molesworth Street, Wellington.

The robbery suspect entered the bank and threatened the teller, demanding money. He left with an amount of cash, carried in a black plastic bag he had brought with him.
