Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision, Northland

Northland Police are currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred in Opua at about 4.30p.m. yesterday.

The incident involved a motor vehicle which struck a pedestrian on Russell Road. Police and Emergency services were notified by members of the victim's family. A vehicle was located a short distance from the scene and the driver is currently assisting Police with their investigation.

Inquiries conducted to date have given rise to the possibility that another vehicle may also have been involved in the incident.

Police would like to hear from the driver of any vehicle involved in the incident. The Northland Serious Crash Unit is investigating the matter and are appealing to any person who was in the area at about the time and may have any information regarding the incident to contact them.

Any vehicle involved in the fatal collision will have suffered damage as a result of impact and may require repair.
