Tourists assaulted and robbed

Police are investigating the assault and robbery of two German tourists in Paihia.

The incident happened in the early hours of this morning when the men, aged 19 and 23, were robbed and assaulted by possibly three offenders.

Some of their personal items, such as passports, German drivers' licence, clothing, car keys and cash, were taken by the offenders.

The men received bruising and cuts and received medical treatment before returning to their accommodation in Paihia.

Police are asking for anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity in the School Road area of Paihia between 3am and 4am this morning (Thursday October 15) to contact Kaikohe Police on 09 405 2970.
