Police confirm the party of overdue trampers have left Rimutaka Forest Park safely. A Police patrol met them at around 3.30 pm. There were no injuries or medical issues within the party.

”The group seemed to cope quite well with the equipment they were carrying,” said Constable Brett Main. “They made the right decision to wait for the river level to go down before crossing it.”

With the recent bad weather, Police advise all trampers to check weather conditions before setting out on a tramping trip.
