Upper Hutt Police have advised that there are some unnecessary traffic delays with people travelling south along Fergusson Drive SH 2 past the Rimutaka Tavern.

Holiday commuters appear to be slowing down to view the dead pigs that have been laid out in the car-park of the Tavern after a pig hunt in area.

Peak flows are already building and this is causing further delays to those attempting to get home. Police are asking people to try and maintain a consistent speed to avoid creating more frustration.
