Motorcyclist named after fatal crash

Police can now release the name of the sole motorcyclist who died after crashing after he lost control of his Ducati motorcycle, on State Highway 6 near Greymouth, at about 5.10pm on the 25th October 2009 as:

Matthew Edward Carpinter, 31 years of age of Kaiapoi, Canterbury.

Next of kin have now been notified.

Police investigations are continuing into this fatality, and are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the riders prior to the crash, north of Greymouth between the Cobden Bridge and Coal Creek, to make contact with them.
