The many local fans of bestselling international romance novelist Paullina Simons will be delighted at the news that the Paper Plus Group is hosting a VIP event starring the Russian-American writer at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Auckland on Wednesday 4 November. Simons is visiting New Zealand from her home near New York City to talk about her latest novel, A Song in the Daylight.

Part of the Paper Plus Books & Bubbles series, the cocktail-style function will be hosted by Paper Plus books spokesperson Kerre Woodham, and will be the biggest event to feature Simons during her visit. At the event, Simons will discuss her life and work with Kerre Woodham, and chat to and take questions from the audience.

Lyle Hastings, Paper Plus Group Marketing Manager, says, ”We are delighted to host an international author of Paullina’s calibre and look forward to seeing her many fans gather for what will be a fun-filled evening of book banter, while enjoying a glass of bubbles.”

Simons’ books have sold more than one million copies worldwide (275,000 in New Zealand alone), making Paullina Simons one of the most-loved novelists of her generation. Destined to be her best book yet, A Song in the Daylight has been described as an epic Anna Karenina for the 21st century.

After graduating from university and working at various jobs, Simons wrote her first novel, Tully. Through word of mouth, readers all over the world welcomed Tully — and Paullina Simons — into their lives. She has now written 10 books, including the internationally bestselling The Bronze Horseman and Road to Paradise.

For her part, Kerre Woodham will be well-known to guests as a long-time TV and radio host and media personality. The Paper Plus books spokesperson since 2007, Kerre does monthly reviews as part of the Paper Plus Books Choices programme.

Kerre is one of the country’s best raconteurs, with a knowledge of books and authors that is second to none – making her evening with a bestselling novelist a tantalizing prospect for booklovers.

About A Song in the Daylight
From the author of the top-five bestseller Road to Paradise comes a novel of love, betrayal and redemption against the odds.

Larissa has disappeared.

Her husband, Jared, and children are expecting her to be home on Friday evening as usual, but there’s no trace of her. She’s left behind her phone, her car, her favourite earrings.

Larissa, happily married for 15 years, has a secret. She’s met and fallen in love with a man she scarcely knows. Kai is younger, unattached, and irresistible. Their passionate affair overwhelms all the loyalties she had thought were unassailable, until she agrees to start a new life with him.

But what sort of life can it be? Having abandoned everything and everyone, there’s no going back. But how can she live with what she’s done?
