Crash near Putaruru closes road

 Police are attending a serious crash on SH1 at the intersection with Jones Road, Lichtfield, south of Putaruru.

The two vehicles involved in the crash are both upside down. The road is closed.

One person is trapped and in serious condition. Fire Service staff are using cutting equipment to remove that person from the car. Another person has died at the scene.

The road will be closed for some time. Diversions are in place
